I discovered KelZo Jewellery in February of this year, doing what a lot of people were doing during lockdown life.. online shopping!
The company, like many others, originated during lockdown 2020. They started making small batches of statement studs and other bits and bobs, and eventually decided to open the shop.
Here is a pic of my first order, all earrings, all loved and worn many times since I got them! They have a few different collections on the website: Spring/Summer, Monthly Box, Pride, Bolts, Boobies, Faces, Zero Waste and Leopard print.
I have something from most of these collections, the Zero Waste was the first one to get my attention, simply because it is zero waste. They have a no waste policy (all clay is used and leftovers recycled), and a specific Zero Waste Collcection.
The biggest focus is the LGBTQIA+ Collection, which they donate 10% of the profits to LGBTQIA+ Charities. For 2021 the company is donating to Mermaids. Mermaids has been supporting transgender, nonbinary and gender-diverse children, young people, and their families since 1995.
KelZo Jewellery is run by Kelly and Zoey (get it?) who are an LGBTQIA+ family living in Cardiff with their two kids, and a labradoodle named Ziggy.
I’ve actually been meaning to write about them for a while as I love their jewellery (I have many pairs of earrings already) and their social media content, and as it’s June, which is PRIDE month 🙂 what better time to tell you all about them.
(Quick sidenote/plea: If you are going to order Pride products, try and order them from independent businesses if possible, rather than large corporations that jump on the bandwagon to make money, and please support queer creators where you can – thanks!)
I’d already ordered myself some new bits from their website so figured I could do a little unboxing and show you all what I got.
So here is how the order arrived..
I opened the box, had a quick reorganisation of items and this is the beauty I was presented with!
Contents shown: Mini rainbow dino badge, Pansexual heart studs, Juicy red heart drops, Purple snake bolts and Striped star statement drops. I also got a lovely smelling tealight, a super cute postcard and of course the KelZo business card.
I’ve worn the juicy red heart drops twice already and they are so fun, they are really light compared to alot of the bigger earrings that I own too so i can happily wear them all day with no issues. And as with all my KelZo earrings, i’ve had lots of compliments on them.
The dino badge is going on my denim jacket along with my mental health matters badge, it’s probably one of the things I wear most often so people will definitely see it, and hopefully enjoy it as much as me, cause dino’s am I right? 🙂
I got the pansexual heart studs but you can get all the flags or specific flag colours in different shapes in studs, drop style earrings, badges, keyrings and necklaces! They also do custom orders so if there is something you want that you can’t find just let them know.
I was so excited to try these that I couldn’t even finish getting ready or sorting my hair out before I popped them on and did a mini photo shoot in my room. I then ended up wearing them all day because I just didn’t want to take them off! They are heavier than the hearts but still not painful or dragging my lobes down in any way.
Basically what I’m saying is I LOVE these women, and what they do. If you like honest, down to earth gals that make awesome jewellery, you’ll probably like them too!
Check them out, let me know if you buy anything, and if you do I’d love to see pics 💜
Kelly and Zoey also run a blog called Our Transitional Life where they share their journey as a transgender family and Zoey has a Go Fund Me page ‘Help Zoey’s Surgery Fundraising‘ if you would like to make a donation.
